The DEEP, State of Connecticut is having a refuge work party on the trout refuges of the Housatonic River. The meeting time and place is Thursday, July 18, 9:00 AM,at the Covered Bridge in Cornwall. Work will commence on the Mill River refuge.
Equipment to take? Please wade wet with shorts, wading shoes, sunscreen, plenty of drinking water, crowbars, spey shovels, polarized sun glasses, and rubber hand gloves ( get those cheap at Ocean State Job Lot or Kmart).
We all know how low water and high temperatures stress our trout population. This work is especially important at this time of year. Water levels this morning are down to 223 cfs which is significantly down with respect to all historical averages.
Please make every effort to get up there and work the refuge with DEEP.
