Summary of Key Provisions
•Requirement for a Marine Recreational fishing license.

1. All waters fishing and firearms hunting license, private land permits for deer and spring
turkey.
2. All waters fishing license, small game & deer archery permit and private land permit for
spring turkey.
•Annual license requirement without license fee for persons 65 or older prior to January 1,
2008.
•Annual license requirement at reduced fee for persons turning 65 after December 31, 2007.
•No marine recreational license required for any person under age 16. (Note: Same
requirement as fishing in the Inland District)
•No marine recreational license required for any person fishing as a passenger on a party boat,
charter party boat, or head boat registered under 26-142a and operating solely in the Marine
District.
•Reciprocity with Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, and New York if
they implement a marine license and adopt reciprocal privileges (e.g. Can use a Connecticut
marine license or all waters license in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and
Massachusetts, and New York at no additional cost.)
NOTE:
All current licenses to remain in effect for an unspecified time period. A decision to
eliminate current licenses will be based on future sales.
All revenue from licenses created under this new structure will be deposited directly into the
Conservation Fund as per Sec. 22a-27h(b) of the CT General Statutes and must be used by
DEP to support conservation and preservation programs.
