Hello fellow Members I am pleased to work as the Committee Chairman for the H.F.F.A.  I have been working the last few months with the board to plan this year’s picnic, the date was chosen by the board a rain date of September 19th was also decided on should the weather turn ugly.Anyone interested in helping out is welcome, I need all the help I can get to assure the picnic is a great time for all; your suggestions are welcome as always as well.

The picnic will start at 11 AM and finish up at 3 PM with the meal being served at 1PM.  The Basic Menu the H.F.F.A. will provide the following Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Rolls, Mustard, Relish, Ketchup, Soda, Bottled Water, Coffee, Chips and Dip, Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad “Disposable Items” Paper Plates, Cups, Plastic Knives Forks and Spoons, Paper Napkins, Ice, Charcoal.   I would like to ask anyone that can make a covered dish to do so, the more the merrier, if you are unable to make a dish no worries just come and enjoy  yourself!

We will hold a door prize drawing at the picnic; more information will follow in the coming months as we get closer to the picnic date!

HFFA December 3, 2009 Meeting

Hi Everyone, the speaker at the December meeting will be Brian McGray. a Professional Woodcarver, Taxidermist and Author, whose career has spanned more than three decades. He is the owner of Birds in Wood Studio, BIW Woodcarving and Taxidermy School, and Goose House Publication.

In addition to carving and taxidermy; Brian has written four books and dozens of articles and short stories for leading publications including: Breakthrough Magazine, Wildfowl Carving and Collecting, New England Out-of-Doors and Woods & Waters.

Some of Brian’s clients include: The Lincoln Center, Lion’s Gate Films, ABC Television, IBM, and King Hassan of Morocco.  Brian’s work has taken numerous awards in both National and World competitions and his work is collected internationally.

Also at the December meeting we will be raffling off an Albright A-5 490 IM7, 5 piece, 9 ft. 4 wt. rod.   A couple years ago a number of HFFA members purchased this rod for trips to Montana.   This is a great travel trout rod or just one to use up on the Hous anytime.   It includes the Albright top of the line GPX reel, spare spool, and gear bag, and a small assortment of flies to use up on the Hous.   The rod will be raffled off at 7:30 p.m.   Finally, Tom Toomey has offered the No-Float Stix wading staff to club members for a “Christmas Special” price of $60.00.   Any one wanting to buy a No-Float Stix through the Club should contact Dan Kenny. They are regularly $99.95 so its a great deal.  Check out River Reports and the Gallery for the latest on whats happening on the river.  TIGHT LINES AND A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL !
